Ombud SCALE 2021 Conference Recap: Sessions, Takeaways & More

Ombud SCALE 2021 is officially a wrap! SCALE was held virtually on Oct. 27 and provided an exclusive opportunity for customers to grow their knowledge of the platform and connect with peers in the Ombud community.

The day began with a peer panel,  “Proposal Team Structure: Dos, Don'ts, and What to Consider.” Speakers included Andrea Dixon, Senior Manager of Proposal Management at MedImpact, Kevin Cohn, CCO of Brightflag, and Danny Wahl, Sales Enablement Manager of Proposals at Instructure. These business leaders gave real-world advice on how to structure your department, when you know it's time to expand, and how to advocate for the importance of a proposal function.

Participants enjoyed a mid-day mindfulness break led by Rachel Bellinger, Founder of Mindful Good, a mindfulness education studio and consultancy. Rachel focused on the science of stress and the importance of mindfulness in day-to-day life. As a mindfulness educator, wellness consultant, and intuitive mentor, Bellinger highlighted how the COVID-19 pandemic has increased stress levels for many of us, and chronic stress can lead to burnout. Forming daily habits, setting boundaries at work, and taking time to rest are all ways to reduce stress and avoid burnout. 

“Power-Up Your Reporting: How to Run Any Report You Want in Ombud” featured Patrick Kaplan, Director of Proposal Database and Document Management at Magellan Health, Wes Parrish, Sr. Customer Success Manager at Ombud, and Jake Peplowski, Sales Engineer at Ombud. During this session, attendees learned how to create and share views with their teammates, design custom views and reports in the Ombud Library, and the different types of views users can create and manipulate to fit their needs. Peplowski and Parrish showed attendees how to run reports on numerous types of activities and content through Ombud’s Library. 

Technical Alliances Manager Garrett Nickell and Customer Success Manager Emily Herschberger spoke alongside Daniel Chambers, Head of Proposals at Sage during the session “Workspace Templates: The Most Important Functionality You May Not Be Using.” Nickell led a tutorial detailing the intricacies of the Workspace template settings and how users can customize their team's experience.

One of the most powerful, yet often overlooked, features within Ombud’s platform is the webview. Customer Support and Training Coordinator Maggie Blankenship and Sales Engineer Jake Peplowski led the session “The Top Ways You Should Be Using the Ombud Webview” at SCALE. Attendees learned how to be more proactive with content to their customers and prospects with these unique use cases. Blankenship and Peplowski gave their professional insight on the intricacies of the webview and how the functionality works as a whole.
